Anthony Casalena is the Founder and CEO of Squarespace, which he started from his dorm room in 2003. During the company’s early years, Anthony acted as the sole engineer, designer, and support representative for the entire Squarespace platform, allowing for it to be a stable business from the outset.
In addition to his main responsibilities in running the company and setting overall product strategy, he remains actively involved in the engineering, design, and product teams within the organization. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. @acasalena
John Colton is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience managing and growing software development teams in high-growth startups. Before joining Squarespace, John served in senior leadership roles at a number of organizations including database security vendor Application Security, business and service assurance vendor Micromuse, and videoconferencing vendor VisualScape.
John began his engineering career at Cap Gemini America where he developed network management products for AT&T Network Systems. He received his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Lehigh University, and now resides in Brooklyn.
As Squarespace’s General Counsel, Ali Kazemi advises the leadership team on a variety of legal and business matters, and manages Squarespace’s core legal functions, including commercial and technology transactions, litigation, and regulatory compliance. Prior to working at Squarespace, Ali was Associate General Counsel at Tumblr, a NYC-based startup acquired by Yahoo, Inc. in 2013.
Earlier in his career, Ali was a federal prosecutor in the National Security & Cybercrime unit for the Eastern District of New York, where he served as the District’s Computer Hacking & Intellectual Property Coordinator. Ali graduated with honors from NYU School of Law and Duke University.
Peter Kyviakidis brings 25 years of financial operations, forensic accounting, financial reporting, consulting, and auditing experience to his position at Squarespace. While he was a member of Deloitte & Touche LLP, Peter served numerous software, telecommunications, biotechnology, and hardware companies, helping technology companies consummate initial public offerings and obtain a variety of financing.
Peter is an avid investor in publicly traded technology companies and an angel investor in technology startups. He is a graduate, summa cum laude, of New York University, with a degree in accounting and economics.
As the Chief Creative Officer of Squarespace, David leads the company’s award-winning creative team, whose work encapsulates all brand creative, brand design and product design efforts for the company. Prior to Squarespace, David served as Worldwide Digital Executive Creative Director of TBWA Worldwide and President & CCO of Pilot.is, where he created Projeqt, a dynamic web presentation platform.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy and AKQA, and as an Art Director at Sid Lee. He graduated from RISD with a BFA in graphic design.
Joris is a leading HR and talent executive responsible for nurturing Squarespace’s unique culture and developing the company’s hiring strategy. Under Joris’ leadership, Squarespace has been recognized by Crain’s Best Places to Work, the Great Place to Work Awards, and more. Joris joins Squarespace from Atlassian, where he led HR during their fast growth period from 130 to 700 staff members.
Earlier in his career, Joris was a General Manager at HR consulting firm Chandler Macleod and the Australian Department of Employment. He holds a Master’s in Human Resources from Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
Chris brings over 15 years of marketing expertise and leadership to Squarespace, leading the Media and Acquisition Team to implement a strategic media plan optimizing the company's marketing efforts while expanding its acquisition channels, content strategy and customers. Prior to Squarespace, Chris was the Global Director of Paid Media at Edelman and EVP, General Manager for VivaKi’s Audience On Demand™ (AOD). He also led the media team for American Express at Digitas.
Chris got his start in software startups in Texas and Boston after studying Philosophy and Comparative Religion at Harvard in the 90s.
